Olivia & WillÕs Announces Four–Poster Castle Bed Fit For A Princess

Hardwood Bed Features Hand-Carved Lighted 3–D Towers, ÒDiamondÓ Crown

SANTA ANA, Calif. (Oct. 10, 2006) –– Today, Olivia & WillÕs Fine ChildrenÕs Furniture made its first  public announcement of a truly original, one-of-a-kind, four-poster Princess Castle bed.  Part of OliviaÕs Princess collection, the elegant bed features towers  with nightlights colored to the ownerÕs liking, all-hardwood construction for the longevity required of heirlooms, hand-carved brickwork and wooden shingles in the peaks above each tower, hand-painted roses and vines, and a genuine crown for its centerpiece.

Each Princess bed provides girls from toddler age to pre-teen an exciting, enchanting fit to their magical worlds.  For parents, the beds offer something that goes on for generations, handing down memories from one child to the next.  Each bed is completely constructed of solid hardwood timber and joined together the old fashioned way with solid joints.  All brickwork and the special shingled roofs for the peaks are hand-carved so no bed is exactly the same, providing that custom-made feel.

The stately towers are hollow and contain 7-watt nightlights, commonly found in most stores, with a choice of colors.  Shaped like a cone, smaller towers rest atop the lower, larger towers and have hand-carved wooden shingles to replicate a real castle roof.  These too have nightlights.  All lights are turned on and off using an easy to reach rocker switch on the back of the left headboard tower. A one-amp breaker provides added safety.

Special to the Olivia & WillÕs Fine ChildrenÕs Furniture Princess Castle bed is the ÒdiamondÓ crown centerpiece, an actual crown used in weddings and pageants.  The Òdiamonds,Ó made from real crystals, sparkle with the nightlights or with the main light on in a bedroom.

The bed is painted in portrait white with accents of pink, lavender or purple. Key trim elements are done in regal metallic gold.  Hand-painted roses climb around the columns ending below the towers.

The Princess Bed is available with matching chests of drawers, beveled-mirror vanities, nightstands and several other pieces.  The beds are offered in both full and twin sizes and also can be ordered with trundles or storage drawers.

The story behind the bed

Fred Golightly, the founder of Olivia & WillÕs Fine ChildrenÕs Furniture, is a skilled woodworker but was not originally a furniture maker.  He created the first castle bed as a special gift for his daughter, Olivia, working nights and weekends in his garage.  Other parents who saw the bed were awed and suggested Fred go into business.  The resulting enterprise quickly outgrew his garage.  (Fred has another child, Will, and a matching boyÕs bed featuring a coat of arms and masculine colors will also be available.)
